Interagency Emergency Health Kit
Emergency health kits are often a lifeline for people in crisis-affected areas. As a leading supplier of emergency kits, Missionpharma plays a vital role in addressing critical medical needs during humanitarian crises.
What is the IEHK 2024?
Designed for emergency health needs
The Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK) 2024 is designed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to meet the essential health needs of populations affected by emergencies. The kit is primarily intended for use in the early phase of an emergency and provides essential medicines and medical devices urgently needed for life-saving purposes.
The IEHK 2024 is designed to serve the medical needs of an outreach population of 10,000 people for three months.
Two main modules for flexible response
The IEHK is organised into two main modules: a Basic module and a Supplementary module. Each module is further subdivided into several standalone units, each containing different medicines and consumables targeted to support the healthcare needs at primary and hospital care level.
ABOUT IEHK 2024
The IEHK 2024 is designed by the WHO and includes essential medicines and medical devices crucial for life-saving interventions. The kit is tailored to support an outreach population of 10,000 people for up to 3 months during the critical early phase of emergencies.
The kits are used by United Nations agencies, non-governmental organisations, and national governments to ensure rapid and reliable access to essential health supplies in the aftermath of natural disasters such as floods, droughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, and human-made crises such as armed conflicts.
Kit structure and components
Basic module – for primary healthcare
The Basic module contains products suitable for use at primary healthcare levels. It includes essential medicines and consumables required to support an outreach population of 1,000 people over a period of three months.
Supplementary module – for hospital care
The Supplementary module is designed for hospital use or larger health centres with specialised services. It contains both oral and injectable medicines, as well as other medical supplies appropriate for physicians, nurses, and staff with specialised training. This module is intended to support an outreach population of 10,000 people over a period of three months.
Modular and scalable design
The IEHK can be bought as a complete kit, or each unit can be bought individually. This flexibility allows all units to be ordered in preferred quantities based on local needs.
